The path for the addon directory is not correct. Stopping install.

Hey there

i was using WAU but since they stopped i had to find a replacement, since i installed the client i have several problems. For one i don't seems to ever find an update despite new version being show on site, every time i launch the client it lose my wow installation path and i'm forced to give it again but this is the output i get when trying to update my addons :

Tue Oct 21 13:37:20 2008 > The path for the addon directory is not correct. Stopping install. The path for the addon directory is not correct. Stopping install.
Tue Oct 21 13:37:20 2008 > Installing addon: LittleWigsInstalling addon: LittleWigs

it does this for 95% of my addons.

my setup is like this :

curse client premium 2.0.0.14

wow installation path : E:\Jeux\World of warcraft\

any ideas on what is the cause and how to fix this ?

I think the root of this problem is that the CurseClient comes up thinking WoW was installed in it's default location.  You can change this by opening the CurseClient and in the Menu Bar at the top of the client window click on Configuration --> Set Game Directories --> Set WoW Directory

In the box that appears, expand My Computer and then continue down the tree until you see your base World of Warcraft folder.  In your case E:\Jeux\World of Warcraft.

Click once on the name of the folder and then click on the OK button.  At this point I recommend closing the client completely by right clicking on it's Icon in the System Tray and choosing exit.  Then relaunch the client and it should work for ya.

If this does not work, then you may need other help or there may be a file system rights issue there that is blocking the client from installing the mods.  But I doubt that will be the case.

I really hope this helps you.

Ive gone as far as to del all old mods and install the new ones then search for them with windows and cant find them any were. It see the wow.exe correctly but its like the .../interface/addon folders are invisable almost as though they were spelled wrong...

Is the directory you listed above the folder that contains WoW.exe?

Report this thread post

yes wow.exe is in e:\Jeux\world of warcraft\

i do think the setup is right else the client wouldn't show any addons after i reenter the path.

others things i noticed, i installed manually bartender 4 as i had bartender 3, and deleted bartender 3 addon, both are showing on the client after many restart over a week. i finally got rid of bartender 3 in the curse client list by "uninstalling" it.

some addons aswell like bartender 4 and fubar 3.5 are being show with a data from 1970/01/01

http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/tank-points.aspx

tankpoints been updated 6 adys ago to version 2.8.0. According to client my version is 2007/06/10 version 2.6.8 and is the latest, not detected when i do refresh or update or check addon, while addon selected.

I had the same prob today and fixed it.. I tried all the other methods mentioned before none worked.. This is what I did to fix my prob.. Went into wow folder

C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft  Then I deleted my Interface folder ( this folder contains your addon folder) I then created a new Interface folder inside  C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft .. In  this folder I added a new Addons folder.. So If you didnt get that delet your interface folder and create a new 1 in that folder make a new addon folder.. Hope that helps.............. HOly Pally for the cleans lol.........

dharock you have to delete your interface folder not just move it curse will still try to install to the orignal folder if it is still on your comp delete it and create a new interface folder inside that 1 create a new addons folder dont worry about the blizzard addons as they will be reinstalled upon next log into wow then reinstall your curse and install your addons..

i'm not stupid, renaming a folder in wow is like deleting it. the client won't find it and neither is wow.exe.

i created a blank new Interface for my test with aswell an addons inside (yes with the right capitals). the client didn't find any addons and when i tried to install a new one i had the message on the post above.
